Check squishy packaging with the complete packed product: the toy, unit pack, inner pack and master carton. A loose sample does not show where carton walls, folds or neighboring packs will press against the finished item.
A practical packing-fit review records those contact points and compares the product before packing and after unpacking. It helps the buyer identify problems that need correction or professional testing before the packing specification is approved.
Start with the approved product and pack version
Identify the SKU, size, filling description, decoration and sample reference. Use the proposed unit package and carton arrangement. A trial using a different toy size or a substitute package cannot confirm the final fit.
Record the intended quantity and orientation at every level:

For a filled toy, include the location of seams or closures in the record. For a decorated product, show the surfaces that touch the package. Use the material comparison guide when the construction is still being selected.
Photograph the contact points before closing the carton
Photograph a representative packed layer so the approved orientation can be reproduced. Show where the unit packages meet carton walls, separators and neighboring units.
Check whether the proposed quantity fits with the intended normal closure. If the carton only closes by forcing the contents into a different arrangement, record the mismatch and ask the packing team to revise the plan.
Do not add arbitrary weights, drops or temperature exposure to an informal fit review. Have the packaging specialist define any load or transport testing needed for the actual distribution route.
Agree on the review conditions
Use the same documented conditions when comparing packing options. Record how long the packed sample remained assembled and how it was handled. Select these conditions with the supplier or packaging reviewer so they are relevant to the proposed order.
This is a comparison method, not a universal pass/fail test. A short fit review cannot reproduce every warehouse, container or parcel-delivery condition.
If formal distribution testing is needed, ask a qualified provider to choose the appropriate procedure. The International Safe Transit Association's procedure guide distinguishes tests for different packaged products and distribution systems. Do not label an informal check as an ISTA test.
Compare the unpacked item with its starting condition
After unpacking, record the condition immediately and at any later observation time agreed for the review. Keep the same product identity and reference images.
Look for changes that matter to the agreed product specification:
- New contact marks or visible deformation.
- Decoration rubbing against the package.
- Pressure at a seam or closure.
- Package creasing that affects the selling presentation.
- Unexpected residue, opening or leakage requiring technical review.
- A different fit or orientation from the approved packing diagram.
Describe what was observed and where it occurred. A statement such as “mark at the lower-right box fold on sample B” gives the reviewer more to act on than “packing is bad.”
Change one packing variable at a time
When a problem is identified, ask the packing team to propose a specific change: orientation, separator, unit-pack size, carton arrangement or another justified adjustment. Repeat the agreed comparison using the revised version.
Changing several variables without recording them makes it difficult to know which arrangement was actually approved. Give each revised packing diagram its own version and keep the final quantity consistent with the quotation and packing list.

Recalculate carton data after a packing change
Reducing the number of pieces per carton can change carton count even when the order quantity stays the same. The following is an arithmetic example, not a tested Ruiwo packing configuration:

The revised plan needs seven cartons. Record the actual dimensions and gross weight of the partial carton as well as the full cartons; they may differ.
For a rectangular carton measured in centimeters, cubic meters equal length × width × height ÷ 1,000,000. A 40 × 30 × 25 cm carton has a volume of 0.03 m³. This is geometric volume, not a freight quote or a carrier's chargeable-weight calculation.

Keep the final packing reference with the order
The approved record should include product identity, package versions, packing diagram, pieces per carton, dimensions, gross weight, observations and any remaining test requirements. Give the same version to the supplier, inspector and receiving team.
